Current UK position (August 2026): Due to drought and heatwave conditions, the UK Government has issued guidance that disposable barbecues should not currently be supplied for sale because of the significant wildfire risk. Do not use disposable barbecues during hot, dry weather. Dry grass can ignite quickly, causing serious wildfires that threaten people, property and wildlife. If you're looking for a safer option, especially during hot, dry weather, the best choice is usually to avoid any open flame in parks, grassland, woodland, or other fire-risk areas.
